Welcome Everyone!!

"Recognized as one of America's  most distinguished violin makers, Mr. Gammuto is known among professional soloists, chamber ensemble, and orchestra members for instruments of exceptional quality. He strives to craft violins to meet the demands of musicians with a wide range of playing styles and preferences. Old world craftsmanship, and pride in a job well done are the keys to his success."

We live in a time when investors dominate high-end instrument sales, not musicians. Millions of dollars are paid for vintage labeled violins. After the sale, they are placed in storage vaults, and played infrequently, if at all. The fact that they double in value every ten years is what drives this market, and makes them so attractive to investors.

My objective, as a maker, is to put superior quality instruments  into the hands of professional musicians, at a equitable price.  Violin making remains to be one of the most challenging, and rewarding vocations. It is the gentle blending of art and science that holds the attention of craftsmen engaged in this endeavor. In my opinion, there is no better way to make a living.  Approximately 200+ manhours are required to fashion and voice an instrument, and it sings for you when completed. What could be more satisfying?

Why you should consider buying from a maker directly. Highly skilled instrument makers are passionate about their work, and take great pride in their work. You should expect a sale price from a maker that is both reasonable and fair, for both parties. It should be apparent to you, as the buyer, that the work is labor intensive, and the cost of the imported raw materials are expensive.

The key advantage of purchasing from a maker directly is that you know how to get in touch with the maker should you need advice, or technical assistance.  Dealers generally have  larger quantities of instruments to choose from, but they don't always know the history of the instrument. Some dealers are very well informed, and can be a valuable resource. Like any other business, they have high overhead costs, and operate on the "Buy low, Sell High" principle.

"If you buy a product from a person that loves their work, you have made a wise investment. Guaranteed!"
