My objective, as a maker, is to put superior quality instruments into the hands of advanced students and professional musicians at a fair price. Violinmaking has long been one of the most challenging, and rewarding vocations. It is the gentle blending of art and science that holds the attention of dedicated craftsmen. There is no better way to make a living. Approximately 200 manhours are required to fashion and voice an instrument, and it sings for you when completed. What could be more rewarding?

You should expect a price from a maker that is both reasonable and fair for both parties. It should be apparent to you, as the buyer, that the work is labor intensive, and the cost of working materials are expensive. The advantage of purchasing from a maker directly is that you know how to get in touch with them should you need advice, or technical assistance. When you visit a string workshop you are in the maker's natural environment, and you usually get a technical education during the selection process.
